I would guess that the Bot doesn't eat waffles. When you go to the effort of preparing something you often don't feel like eating it too

Well, if the Bot doesn't eat waffles, we know now that it collects them.

The Bot is like the Pope in that you have to refer to hit as "the Bot" in the first paragraph, but are free to say "it" thereafter
